Founded in 2020, the Johns Hopkins University Chapter of the Black Student Athlete Association is a Black, student-run organization that seeks to create a safe and supportive atmosphere for athletes of every creed and ethnicity from across the African Diaspora. This organization is made up of student-athletes from every faction of the Department of Athletics and Recreation.
The main vision of BSAA is to establish a supportive, family atmosphere for Black athletes on campus, empowering each other as we seek to become a positive entity in both the Hopkins and surrounding Baltimore community. The atmosphere of a predominately white institution is often unsupportive for the concerns of Black student-athletes, so this collective strives to create a space for these individuals to feel comfortable and connect with those who share in their feelings and experiences.
