It's not what we go though that is important more than the perception of what I am going through. In the prodigal son all three of them have difference responses to that event of the son returning home. All these responses happen in my mind.

How does God convict us of our sins? What is the purpose of conviction? It is our sins, disobedience, or rebellion that hurts the relationship between our intimacy with God. He always brings conviction to lead us into freedom. He shines the light of truth into our darkness for healing and relationship restoration.
