They Spinal Tapped it up to 11! This week's guest on Discover New Music is Elias Soriano of Nonpoint, stopping by to talk about the band's brand-new album, "The Last Word". Soriano talks about the creative process behind the record, how one song helped the band find its direction, going heavier than ever, and the freedom of releasing music independently. Plus, we get into Nonpoint's nu-metal resurgence, a cool story behind the album artwork, and which song he'd play for an alien to introduce them to the band. • In This Moment

Everything happens for a reason...even when you're pretty sure everything is going completely wrong! This week's guests on Discover New Music are Maria Brink and Chris Howorth of In This Moment, who stopped by to talk about their brand new album, Witch. The two open up about the surprisingly difficult and emotional process of making the record, including realizing after leaving the studio that a big chunk of the album wasn't finished, stepping outside their nearly 20-year comfort zone with producers Kevin and Kane Churko, and bringing in Drew Fulk and other collaborators to help finish the record. Maria also talks about the loss of her father and how that personal experience influenced the album, while Chris and Maria explain how the challenges ultimately helped shape the finished product. We also get into their very "In This Moment" takes on some classic cover songs, including Pink Floyd, Sting and Nine Inch Nails, plus their favorite track to introduce to a little gray alien. And of course a quick round of Rapid Fire featuring sandals, whistle solos, Flintstone Push-Ups and Bigfoot!
