The quote "it's not that the person wants to die, it's that they don't know how to live" is the driver for this conversation. As we continue our talks about suicide awareness and prevention, I welcome back clinical therapist and my close friend, Chris Pugh. Today Chris and I are looking at some of the potential societal stressors and triggers that may cause suicidal thoughts or actions and how we can address these concerns. The statement "I'm fine" comes up a bit today, which I am a guilty of using. "I'm fine" is a trigger statement and should be explored and elaborated on. The mind is a beautiful thing. It loves to think and solve problems. But when it's our mind that we need to help, can the mind really help the mind, or do we get caught in a loop and drive ourselves deeper into our darkness? There is help to be had if we are vulnerable enough to ask for it. Your life is worth living.
