For a while now the talk of "getting ready" is the ticket of conversation among Christian circles. Yet what I have been personally experiencing is well intentioned, sincere Christians falling down under the weight of "getting ready." They set out on a some kind of new course to spiritually prepare themselves right away because of the knowledge of the imminent return of Jesus Christ.   Now let me pause for a moment to say there is an expectation I believe that the Lord has that we all stop and become spiritually sober. 

Where we honestly take a good look at our lives as we walk along the narrow road. Taking the proper thorough steps of "examining ourselves to see if we be in the faith."   But the reality is God does not expect us to stay in that same place of constant check listing faults and minute failures. This is what is causing many Believers to fall down under self imposed burdens they have heaped upon themselves that God never intended for them. The end result is they lose joy, the happy confidence in Jesus Christ, and condemn themselves as unworthy, and say things like, "Well, I hope when Christ comes again He will let me go with Him."  

In the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus fell down and began to be full of heaviness and unbearable sorrow. He prayed to the Father "with loud cries and tears unto Him that was able to save Him from death." It says His disciples "slept for sorrow." I believe they were so overwhelmed and grieved they just slept. But Jesus said to them in Marks gospel, "Watch and pray that ye enter not into temptation. For the Spirit is truly ready, but the flesh is weak."   Matthew records the same thing but a bit differently, "Watch and pray that ye enter not into temptation. For the Spirit is indeed willing but the flesh is weak." You may be in a turmoil right now and in a hard place, but "the Spirit is truly ready," and He is" indeed willing" even now. Right this very minute! 

You see, truly ready people are always ready. They may check list some things in their lives to clear themselves with the Lord from time to time, but they always live in a constant readiness along with the truly ready Holy Spirit. What is too heavy for you, let the Holy Spirit's strength, power and comfort perform what you find you are too weak to do. Let go of what you cannot do or change. Lean on the everlasting arms. He will make you ready in ways that are no burden or heaviness at all. Trust the always ready and willing Lord who smooths the road before you and clears your skies.

Every year there is a build up to what is called the "Holy Week." It begins with Palm Sunday and then Good Friday, ending with Easter Sunday. It is the one week out of the whole month that Christians give any thought about Jesus more than at other time. However, the sad truth is it is grossly religiously marketed. Vacations and parties are planned. When Sunday comes around multitudes stampede into churches, then off to other activities, games and parties. When the following Monday comes, all is forgotten until next year. 

I quote Charles H. Spurgeon: "There is no ordinance in Scripture of any one Lord’s day in the year being set apart to commemorate the rising of Christ from the dead, for this reason, that every Lord’s-day is the memorial of our Lord’s resurrection. Wake up any Lord’s-day you please, whether in the depth of winter, or in the warmth of summer, and you may sing, “To day he rose and left the dead, And Satan’s empire fell; To day the saints his triumph spread, And all his wonders tell. When he arose ascending high, He showed our feet the way; Up to the Lord our flesh shall fly At the great rising day.” To set apart an Easter Sunday for special memory of the resurrection is a human device, for which there is no Scriptural command, but to make every Lord’s day an Easter Sunday is due to him who rose early on the first day of the week."  

The way to heaven is not just a destination it is a way. And in this way is the power of Jesus resurrection into heaven, where we are seated in heavenly places with Him. Our lives are not just about looking at death, but of life. Life now in Christ, and everlasting life that will never end. For we are risen with Christ, rather let us sing unto the Lord a new song, and praise him with our whole soul all the days of our lives.

Sooner or later those who are the true Believers in Jesus Christ will have to get into the ring with Satan. It is unavoidable. However there are many Christians that say they do not like to "focus" on the enemy. They say things like "I don't like talking about him because it glorifies him." They seem to go on like religious herds of cattle. The enemy does not waste his malevolent demonic hordes on them. They are not threat to him at all.  But those that are determined to live for Jesus Christ are those that will be attacked and challenged by the enemy. There is a path that leads through lion country, and that is the narrow path. These sanctified saints refuse any other path. The other broad path is for those spiritually asleep, the sluggardly, slothful so-called Christian. Multitudes of Christians never get into lion country at all.  But when you do, you will feel raw contact with hell. But like David who tore the lamb out of the mouth of the lion did so with the raw power of the Holy Spirit. That same Holy Spirit that came upon David lives in you. As an one mighty saint put it, "I would no be so much the enemy of Satan if I were not so much the friend of God." Amen.

Everything in the born again Christian life has an upward draw or calling. The knowing to look heavenward in prayer is natural. Seeking the Lord and yearning for Him, is a good sign of spiritual life and growth. But there is something else that has been happening to the great flocks of God. What began as enjoyable time with the Lord has turned into a religious overdrive that is spiritually killing people. These self imposed demands to keep up with the fellow "spiritual Jones's" has captured people. 

The doctrinal straining at a gnat while swallowing the camel of departure from the Lord is the common race. Oh yes, people can give a knee-jerk, expert reaction-answer to a spiritual inquiry, yet they are dead within. At one time they followed the Chief Shepherd and Bishop of their souls, but now they expect Him to follow them. He is expected to perform for them and to empower them in spiritual swordsmanship. All the while they are still going further and further away in the Ship of Knowledge out to the Sea of Nowhere to Cast Away Island.   

Right now the people of God are fallen down from high spiritual performance. They are exhausted from having so many religious "how-to's being place upon them like great burdens they cannot keep up with. They are being religiously overfed and overdriven to the point of death. I would go as far as saying, that the masses are mostly doing this to themselves. They think this is what it means to be "good" Christian. That this how Jesus accepts them. They are exhausted because they have not allowed the Master Shepherd to lead them because really, they do not know how to follow Him. Fear and trust issues that have stunted their growth. Joy, peace and freedom's air of heaven has been choked out of them. The Lord Jesus Christ is not called that "Great Shepherd of the sheep" for some story book reason, but to see Him in His great caring love for each one He died and now ever lives for. "Comfort ye, comfort ye my people saith your God." Isaiah 40:1

The name of Jesus Christ to the pure hearted and true Believer is most precious. They spend faithful, quality time with Him, in His word and in heart seeking prayer continually, rain or shine. They know they are talking to a very real Person who is alive in heaven. They call His name when they are in trouble, when they need comfort, or help.   They worship His wonderful name, they speak about Him mentioning His name with fervent joy. They pray over one another in Jesus wonderful name with full expectation of His great goodness.

They know and understand that His name is above all names, and that all power has been given unto Him in heaven and in earth for everyone's good. They are refreshed by His name because the reality is that Jesus is not separate from His name, but accompanies His name. Therefore His name is wonderful to them.

There are other Christ-professing Believers who take His name for granted. They are not offended when they hear the name of Jesus Christ used as a curse word. It does not even phase them. They do not think twice or flinch when watching a movie where Jesus name is profaned a hundred times in the most vulgar ways. They are not affected at all by it. Yes I know we are in the earth and there are time we cannot help but be in circumstances or situations where the name of Jesus Christ is blasphemed. That is not what I am getting at here.

These are Believers who by the onslaught of spiritual and physical powers countermand the adversary in powerful prayers in the name of Jesus Christ. They know great pressure means greater power because it pushes them into Christ to ask for more boldness and advantage in His name.  They "remember His marvelous works that He hath done; His wonders and the judgements of His mouth." They see everything through the eyes of Jesus Christ, and their hearts melt at the mention of His name.

The topic of discussion these days with most all believers is on end time topics. There is a growing fervor coupled with great expectancy of the coming of the Lord. Along with these conversations is preparing for Him. There is no shortage on the "how-to's" of preparing, yet it seems that there is no real grasp on how. People can get easily pumped up after one sermon, or endless YouTube videos, but sooner than later they are back to wondering how. 

I believe that it is about understanding purpose. I think more people suffer not knowing what their purpose is, and what God's purpose is. They seem to be at odds with each other. The problem lies with seeing God's purpose through their eyes darkly. Rather than seeing their purpose through God's eyes. The preparation is in seeing everything in life that a person does in their lives as doing it unto the Lord. This is the way Jesus did it. He was goal oriented, and so were His disciples. Their goals were according to what was in their hands, what was in their hearts, their minds and in their spirit. When you begin to understand that it is not in what you are NOT doing, but in everything you do. 

Take your eyes off of what you are not doing, which is not advisable. It is what you are doing in the moment with your mind and will intentioned towards the Lord. Only then will the living waters flow through that life who sees everything as an opportunity. A full surrendered life will see that even the mundane becomes the king's portion. This is the life of saint bent on serving Christ with their lives in full purpose until their lives are ready for entrance into heaven. "So shall they ever be with the Lord."

There are millions of ways that the enemy assails humanity, and even more it seems, the Believer. However, I am going to zero in on one particular assault. Just as the Lord uses His precious people as vessels to pour out His gospel, and goodwill towards humanity. The enemy has his human agents he fills with contempt and evil against innocent people. There is one honed instrument of Satan that is very powerful and very malicious.  Just as attorneys and people who study and practice the law for profession, Satan has his people who study and practice it to twist it for evil. They learn it as well as the best professionals of the law, only to adulterate it to kill, steal and destroy innocent people. They do it in a way so diabolical that they leave no room for the righteous to fight fairly in the very laws that are condemning them.   

I have seen this many times in my life and it is terrifyingly powerful. I have seen the enemy give these wicked people "his seat, kingdom and power" to overthrow and destroy the lives of beautiful innocent people. To overthrow their faith and leave them without hope. As King Solomon said, "I have seen a grievous thing in the earth," is what I say when I see this "violent perverting of justice."  Perhaps this speaks to you, and that you are the one who is facing a great, grievous injustice meant to strip you of everything you own. To destroy your income, home and very life because of a wicked person. 

It could be an evil earthly entity that has diabolically corrupted the law to their advantage, but to your assured destruction. Perchance you are standing alone with no legal power on your side. If that is you, let me be clear by saying that there a unmatchable power on your side.  Jesus Christ the "Judge of Judges." The word was written so that you would KNOW that the Lord holds all over-arching all-powerful laws no one can challenge in heaven or earth. Do what Daniel did in prayer, openly and with everything in you, and no matter how it bad it looks, trust in the Supreme Judge Jesus Christ to give you ultimate victory. He always keeps His word and will do it. "Glory, Glory dwelleth in Immanuel’s Land”

The subject of the Face of God is pretty short. Meaning, whenever the topic or thought comes up, it is quickly met with a short reply that leaves a blank. There are 71 references to the face of God in the word. I think God wants us to know He has a face and that it is a real face, as real as yours and mine.

Yet, there is so much more meaning what the Face of God entails.  Everyone has a one of a kind unique face. It is their identity now and forever. It also reveals their external expressions of what is going on within them. God makes it clear how He sees the expressions of mankind, and how He feels about them.

Consider the faces of those we love are what bring us comforting joy when we see them.  There are those whom we have deeply loved who have passed away, and we keep the memory of their faces alive in our constant memory and photos in picture frames.  We anticipate the day that we will see their faces again in the light of a thousand suns.

There are no earthly words that could describe the eternal future. The powerful seeing them again "face to face". And yet, there is another face that we will see "face to face" and "know all things as we are fully known."

In Revelation 22:6 it says, "and they shall see His face...." As if to say it in a way as that being the ultimate, supreme joy and reward. He will also look upon each one of us with expressions of purest love unspeakable, and of being proud of us while He places crowns upon our heads. David tells us that the Lord told him to seek His face, and his reply was, "my heart said unto thee, thy face Lord will I seek."  The seeking of God's face is not just about seeing His holy, beautiful countenance, it is about knowing Him in the most intimate way.

The pathway of true born again believers is one of growth and maturity. Nothing can be had all at once of course. The first thing every new believer starts out with is the knowledge that the Holy Spirit comes and lives within them. The sad part is, that's where it ends for the rest of the lives of Christian multitudes.

As time progresses frequent Bible studies, and every-now-and-then sermons discuss Him. Still, the multitudes go no further then frustrated, empty, religious lives.   They pray, read their Bibles, attend studies, go to Church and exert all kinds of spiritual exercises. All the while the Holy Spirit is largely ignored. Many say they never have heard Him speak to their hearts. They say they do not ever feel His leading, or sense His witness, power or movement.

What has taken His place is all kinds of activities that "make up for it." But emptiness and unfruitful, deadness prevail.  Many years ago a very dear old friend named David Neale, a wonderful intercessor shared something very beautiful to me. On one of my visits with him he told me that the Holy Spirit had spoken to him. I asked him what He said. He replied, "As I was sitting in my room, I heard Him say to me, 'I see through your eyes." He wept when he told me that and I will never forget it.  I remembered those words lately and they grabbed me once again.

We need the Holy Spirit, and must remember that He is given to us to protect us, teach us, lift us up, warn us, convict us. And not only that but to give us joy and comfort, and to mature us. The Three in One and One in Three is Him. His life makes our lives fruitful and to abound in everything that Christ is. And finally to prepare us to enter into glory as His finished work presented to Christ. Put away the religious noise and acrobats out of your lives, and be quiet before Him. Make room for Him in prayer. Just be still....let Him move.

How many people who say they are believers live in the shadows of thin version Christianity. They go to church, sing the songs, listen to a message and then go home. There is never any depths to their knowing the Lord Jesus Christ as a very real person. There are no rivers of life.  They sanction themselves out of those paths that lead to richer, more fertile pastures prepared for them that Jesus is calling them to. Like the Israelites, They "wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in. Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them."  

Today Fred takes us through a time in ancient past about a man who was blind. Whom Jesus took by the hand, and led him out of Bethsaida, a town that was cursed, and healed him in a strange and fascinating way. After Jesus touched his eyes, he first saw men like trees walking. Then Jesus touched him the second time and he saw with crystal clarity. He saw the God that healed Him, and he was never the same again.  If you are one of those who are feeling that there is more. That you are living in self-sanctioned shadows of a religious Bethsaida. Then  today Jesus is calling you out and into His marvelous light. But you have to leave Bethsaida and let the Lord Jesus touch your eyes again. Once you do, you will never return to the shadow lands He drew you out of forever. You will set your face toward Immanuel's Land where there are no shadows at all.
