JoAnn Kathryn Scharf, born on August 31, 1931, in Colome, South Dakota, to James and Helen (Smith) Janak, passed away December 31, 2025. She was a graduate of Cedar Bluffs High School, Class of 1949, and was united in marriage to William A. Scharf that same year.
JoAnn was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and was involved in several community organizations, including Eastern Star, the ZCBJ Lodge, and the Linwood Women’s Fellowship. Later, she and her husband, Bill, managed rental properties, where she brought her trademark hard work and care.
JoAnn is survived by her son, William of Schuyler; daughter, Kay (John) Russ of Schuyler; daughter, Peggy Roucka of Olathe, Kansas; grandson, Hugh; granddaughter, Suzanne (Rico); and great-grandson, Parker, brother, John Paul Smith.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William; her parents; and her granddaughter, Misty.
