Along the the Gulf Coast the first Winter Storm Warnings are up in Texas with more to come from Texas to South Georgia next 2 days. Arctic air is pouring southward and eastward as bitter cold air will cover much of the US this week.

Weather in 5 1/18/2025 Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories cover a large portion of the Northeast, Mid Atlantic States and the Appalachians. Winter Storm Watches are likely to go up from the Texas Gulf Coast eastward to the Central Gulf coast as a winter storm forms in the Western Gulf of Mexico for later Monday into early Wednesday. Bitter cold is spreading out of Canada into the Plains, Midwest, the Eastern US as well as the Deep South.

Then a wave forms on the front in the Southeast US and rides northward up the coast. Winter Storm Watches are posted from Northern Virginia to Western and Southern New England. Bitter Cold follows. A new storm forms in the Gulf of Mexico early next week and it will bring snow and ice to much of the Gulf Coast and then the Southeast US Coast. Bitterly cold across the Plains, Midwest and Ohio Valley early next week.

The storm will move off the Mid Atlantic coast early Saturday morning and then head east. Some snow showers north to New England overnight into the first part of Saturday. Next week looks to turn celder starting Tuesday and lasting through at least Friday with gusty winds developing again in the Northeast and Mid Atlantic.

A developing storm in the Gulf of Mexico will spread snow ice and rain across this region. Cold air covers much of the Eastern US and some lighter snows could make it as far north as Southern New England late Friday night and Saturday.
