Joe & Joe Weather Show Podcast LIVE 7:35PM 1/2/2025 Blocking continues to filter colder air slowly southward into the Eastern US as well as the Midwest Ohio Valley and Deep South. A storm will develop in the Southern Plains and head east over the weekend reaching the Mid Atlantic coast Monday. The first Winter Storm Watches are going up tonight in the Plains and points east. Additional watches will be posted Friday and over the weekend as the storm center tracks from Oklahoma straight east to Western Virginia.

A cold weather pattern and a blocking pattern will take hold as the month of January begins bringing winter weather including snow risks next week. Happy New Year to all!

Joe & Joe Weather Show Podcast LIVE 7:35PM 12/30/2024. The next storm system will move across the Ohio Valley and it will bring rain to the Eastern US Tuesday night. A colder weather pattern develops across the US east of the Rockies mid and late week and will gradually gain a foothold in the long range. Model volatility continues and there is no clarity regarding storm systems over the next couple of weeks. Arctic cold however will be bringing much below average temperatures in the long range from East of the Rockies to the East Coast and Florida.

Rain tonight into Monday morning will be heavy at times in the Northeast and Mid Atlantic as a cold front sweeps eastward. Another storm system will bring rain Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Once that front passes we will see a very wintry pattern evolve across much of the US especially the eastern half. We will look at what this means, the sustainability of the cold, and snow chances that could occur over the next couple of weeks.

Joe & Joe Weather Show Podcast LIVE 7:35PM 12/19/2024. Winter Storm Warnings Upper Midwest as low pressure heads southeast from the Great Lakes. Expect the low to reform off the Mid Atlantic coast and move northeast Friday into Saturday. This system and an upper trough will bring some rain and snow from Delaware to New England but the snow will be mostly on the light side. Arctic air will follow across the Midwest, Ohio Valley and the Eastern US including the Deep South over the weekend.

After a very warm day with near record highs, a cold front will be moving east across the Eastern US with rain near the coast and snow well inland in Upstate NY and New England. Late this week an arctic air mass will sweep across the Great Lakes and much of the Eastern and Southern US.

Tuesday will see very warm temperatures with some record highs possible in the Northeast. Another front approaches with rain late Wednesday into Thursday; some snow is possible Upstate NY and Interior New England. Colder air arrives at the end of the week and over the weekend as high pressure comes down from Canada.

Areas to the north of Philadelphia and NYC are under Winter Weather Advisories for a glazing of ice and a little bit of snow making for tricky travel overnight and the Monday morning commute. The week ahead brings chances for rain and a warmer first half with colder air coming for the second half.

Joe & Joe Weather Show Podcast LIVE 7:35PM 12/12/2024. Lake Effect Snow Warnings remain in effect for areas from Northwest Pennsylvania to North Central NY. Cold weather covers virtually all of the East and that should last into early Saturday before temperatures moderate. The weekend looks dry but some rain will come in Sunday night into Monday morning, perhaps a little snow and ice well inland. A stronger front and more showers come later Monday into Monday night across the Ohio Valley and the Northeast. We will look at the long range toward Christmas.
