Joel and Rob's Podcast

Join Joel this August as he single-handedly combines two of our favorite offerings - the Beyond Sunday Podcast and Practicing a Practice. In this short episode he walks us through the practice of reviewing our day with gratitude. We hope it blesses you.

Join Joel and Rob as they discuss liturgical worship. What is it? How does it shape us? And listen in for how our two podcasts hosts have found it meaningful. As always be ready to take a guess on which tv-show-theme song Joel picked out!

In this episode Rob and Joel explore a major theme in the life of the mainline church - SOCIAL JUSTICE. We see this as central in Scripture, in the life of Jesus, and in the purpose of church. As Joel states in this episode - the church exists in order to move outside of its four walls to love and serve. Enjoy and if this is meaningful for you, please take a moment to drop us a comment!

Joel and Rob take a look at the mainline church's relationship with Scripture. Although mainline Christians do not tend to read the Bible literally, they do read it;) and with intention and care. Of course there are lots of laughs and a tv theme song alongside this important topic to our faith! We invite you to leave us a review if you like what you hear 🗣

In this episode Rob and Joel turn their attention to the mainline church. How did we react to the rise of evangelicalism: Mostly by getting quieter. This podcast is equal parts critique and encouragement and we hope you find it insightful.

Joel and Rob continue to look at the question of "how did we get here?" by examining the rise of the evangelical church against the backdrop of postmodernity. Joel gets stumped by a 2009 hit tv theme song...enjoy!

The church has changed more in the past ten years than in the previous 100... How did we get here?! In this episode Rob and Joel take a look at the oldest institution in the world and how the present-day mainline church came to be.

Joel and Rob are back to build on Season 4: episode 3 where they refuted the idea of a literal hell. Some may wonder: if there is no hell, then what's the point of my faith in Jesus? Today they unpack their reason for faith since they don't believe faith is just a "get out of hell free card."

No thumb wrestling in this one...just a quality interview between the two pastors you love. Find out what they've always wanted to ask one another and of course those answers!! We hope you enjoy.

Joel and Rob take on a song from a listener, a fun question about their childhood AND a very serious question about...hell. We'd like to think that this episode is fire;)
