I think that if we are honest as Christians we have a Hollywood picture of heaven. We think that we sit on a cloud playing the harp and maybe eating grapes wondering what to do next. Heaven appears to be a rather boring retirement. So, we do not want to go, and besides it seems that sometimes God appears finicky and impatient. So, is this really the impression that Joel want to leave when he talks about heaven and the Day of the Lord? If heaven is a boring retirement then why does John conclude scripture with his prayer, "Come quickly Lord Jesus?" If you are curious about these questions please stay tuned to our sermon titled, "Longing for Zion."
