This is the time of the year that the deer family go into the rut. Each species instinctually follows specific rituals. I took this photo of a bull elk in Yellowstone National Park just prior to the rut. This show discusses the the stages of the rut.

People who travel south for the winter are called Snowbirds. But what about insects? A few actually migrate south and the remainder – where do they go? And how do insects tolerate the cold temperatures?

Adrenaline gives us the fight or flight response. Each year I participate in an owl count. I found out first hand as I was entering my truck at night and approached by two “strangers”. And this was only the beginning of the adventure!

Most people associate Clydesdales with the Budweiser commercials. But what about riding saddleback on a ‘gentle giant’? Clydesdales make excellent saddle horses. This was a ride of a lifetime.

Riding horseback through the Wasatch Mountain Range, Utah was a ‘ride of a lifetime’. We rode up in the Rockies Mountains (11,000 Feet) which culminated at a glaciated lake filled with trout. I didn’t fish (broke my heart) but I did sing ‘the hills are alive with the sound of music’. No, not really. Come...
