The season has wound down to the last weekend--Super Bowl Weekend--with millions upon millions of people watching and listening across the country and around the world. In the pre-season, Joe picked the Rams and Chiefs to play in Super Bowl 56. One team made it, the other team lost in the conference championship game. Now the Rams go up against an unexpected and surprising foe, the Cincinnati Bengals, a team that is now the gold standard for going from worst to first. Who'll win on Sunday? Joe picks the Rams, 32-29. Here's why.
Joey is delighted that his pre-season Super Bowl picks--KC and the Rams--are still in the hunt. Does he think they'll survive the weekend? Joey tells you what he thinks. We also discuss a variety of issues--on the large number of losses incurred by this year's championship finalists, NFL referee selected for the Super Bowl, Super Bowl viewership, and more. It's the semi-final episode of JoeyP and Frank, 2021-22 season.
Joey went 4-2 during Super Wild Card Weekend, and he's back again this week scoping out the Divisional Games. He'll start with the Saturday games--Titans v. Bengals and Packers v. 49ers, and then turn to the Sunday match-ups, Rams-Bucs and Bills-Chiefs.
Joe finished the regular season with a handicapping record of 60% (54-36). Now it's on to the post-season, Wild Card Weekend, specifically. Joe hit four of six winners last year. How will he do in 2022? Let's see who he picks--Raiders or Bengals, Bills or Patriots, Bucs or Eagles, Cowboys or 49ers, Chiefs or Steelers, and Rams or Cardinals. Joe closes by doing a retrospective on the 2021 Baltimore Ravens.
Joe's record is 10-5 over the last three weeks, 3-2 in Week 17, to push his season mark to 52-33 (61%). Last week, he correctly picked LAR over Baltimore, Tennessee over Miami, and Pittsburgh over Cleveland, but he missed on KC-Cincinnati and Dallas-Arizona. This week, he'll pick these games (in order of discussion on the program): Buffalo-NYJ, New England-Miami, Las Vegas-LAC, Indianapolis-Jacksonville, and Baltimore-Pittsburgh.
After having a perfect 5-0 slate in Week 15, Joe went 2-3 in Week 16, correctly picking KC and Tampa Bay to win, while missing on Buffalo, the Rams, and Miami. His season performance is now 61%, winning on 49 of his 80 picks through 16 weeks of play.
This week, Joe will analyze and pick these five games (in order of coverage on the program): KC-Cincinnati, Tennessee-Miami, Dallas-Arizona, Pittsburgh-Cleveland, and Baltimore-LA Rams.
NOTE: As some of you know, Joe has tested positive for COVID. We wish him a speedy recovery, of course, and Frank asked Joe to make a few comments about his COVID experience. Joe does that right after Frank's opening comments.
Joe went 5-0 in Week 15, picking Pittsburgh to beat Tennessee in a must-win game for the Steelers. Buffalo to bounce back by beating Carolina, Cincinnati to win on the road at Denver, Philadelphia to beat Washington in an intradivision contest, and Green Bay to leave Baltimore with a W. The Week 15 performance brings Joe's 2021 slate to 47-28 (63%). This week, he'll pick these games (in order of coverage on the program): Buffalo-New England, Tampa Bay-Carolina, LA Rams-Minnesota, Pittsburgh-Kansas City, and Baltimore-Cincinnati.
Joe's season record remained stable at 60% (42-28) after going 3-2 in Week 14. He was on the right side with Tampa Bay, San Francisco, and Dallas, but not with Arizona and Baltimore. This week, we welcome back Ken Sins to the program (photo on our weekly cover). Ken is editor emeritus of The Dallas Cowboys Weekly (later The Star). Joe and Ken will talk about these Week 15 games (in order of coverage today): Pittsburgh-Tennessee. Buffalo-Carolina, Cincinnati-Denver, Philadelphia-Washington, and Green Bay-Baltimore.
After going 5-0 in Week 12, Joe went the other way in Week 13, hitting correctly on one of five games—Miami over the NY Giants. He had the wrong side on Cincinnati-LAC, Las Vegas-Washington, Buffalo-New England, and Baltimore-Pittsburgh. Last week’s performance lowered Joe’s season total performance to 60% (39-26). Undaunted, Joe is back with these Week 14 picks (in order of coverage today): Arizona-LAR, Tampa Bay-Buffalo, San Francisco-Cleveland, Dallas-Washington, and Baltimore-Cleveland.
Joey celebrated his birthday by giving us an unblemished week. He correctly picked Cincinnati to beat Pittsburgh, New England over Tennessee, Tampa Bay to win on the road v. Indianapolis, Green Bay to beat LAR at home, and Baltimore over Cleveland. That streak upped his year-to-date record to 38-22 (64%). This week, Joe will focus on five more games (In order of coverage on this podcast), including Cincinnati-Los Angeles Chargers, Miami-NY Giants, Las Vegas-Washington, Buffalo-New England, and Baltimore-Pittsburgh.
