John Cooper was born on November 26, 1968, in Flandreau, South Dakota. He attended Schuyler High School and continued his education at Central Community College, earning a degree in Arts.

John had a deep love for music. He enjoyed writing songs, and played the guitar and keyboard. He shared his passion for music while working as a DJ for Sound Bound Music in Columbus. In addition to music, John loved to cook. He worked as a cook at Husker House and at Central Community College. Most recently, he was employed as a facilities maintenance worker at St. Isidore’s in Columbus.

John was strong in his faith and dedicated to helping others. He was active in AA groups, where he served as a chairman for meetings and sponsored others on their recovery journeys. He was a devoted fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Dallas Cowboys. Above all, family meant the world to him.

He is survived by his siblings: Sue (Joe) Heavican of Rogers, Leesa Richtig of Seward, and Daniel (Trinh) Cooper of San Diego; as well as several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eber and Karen (Alberts) Cooper; his grandparents; and his brother-in-law, Tim Richtig.
