In the early 1980s, John Dunn and Joel Larson joined forces to dominate Los Angeles’ nightlife, shaping the city’s club scene from Hollywood and Beverly Hills to the San Fernando Valley for over 15 years. Their influence spanned over 75 legendary venues, including Whisky A Go Go, Roxy Theater, Flippers, Voila, Le Hot Club, Cattle Barons, and PG’s.

On Friday and Saturday nights at Whisky A Go Go, the dance floor was packed with celebrities, rockstars, and the who’s who of LA, all drawn to the electric energy of their events. Joel Larson, the original drummer and founder of The Grass Roots, first met John Dunn at Flippers in the late 1970s, and together they created some of the biggest club and concert events in LA history throughout the 1980s.
