Gerard Mullin, MD is the associate professor of medicine at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, a renowned integrative gastroenterology and nutrition expert and the author of “The Gut Balance Revolution”. I sat down with Dr. Mullin to talk about the role of the gut microbiome in overall health, the amazing research that has emerged in the past decade about it, and the various factors that have led to a host of gut problems in many Americans today.

We talked about the difference between prebiotics and probiotics and why and how to get both, how to optimize your overall gut microbiome health, the impact of artificial sweeteners and antibiotics on the gut, the connection between obesity and the gut, the difference between goat vs. sheep vs. cow dairy on the human body, the concerns with fish and wine and the wellness routine that keeps him healthy, seeing patients and writing books.
