Building on the idea of a clear literary strategy in the Gospel of John, we will look at the thought-world that forms the basis of the Gospel. How do the Hebrew Scriptures shape John’s language? How does the author think about God speaking in his days, and about his own role in this? There is a literary strategy in how John deals with these questions, with some familiar and some unexpected results.
