Chris “Kip” Johnson is the new chief of the Jasper Fire Department. He was elected to the position by his fellow firefighters in December and took over the position Jan. 1. Johnson replaces Jeff Leslie, who joined the Jasper Fire Department in 1983 and had been chief for around 16 or 17 years.
