~ Class Notes Chapter One ~ The Original MistakeIn referencing a dictionary or merriam-webster.com, “broken” is defined as:

The term “broken” is an __________________ that we use to describe a person, a place, a thing, or a ___________________.“Broken” may be a word we use to __________________ ourselves today, or at one point in our life. But it is not a word that we will use to __________________ us. We are not going to be __________________ to the word “broken” any longer. Our brokenness often comes from a specific situation or action. And that is how it started for ________________________.Genesis 1:27: “And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them .”Read in Genesis 2:7-9. Read Genesis 2:15-17. A couple of things to note here:

Susan gave us a look at why we should study God’s promises and how much we can learn from them if we dig in and get a 360 degree view. Then she walked us through her steps by deconstructing the promise in 1Peter 5:5 with us!

Why do you think God choose one family or one people group in one tiny little corner of the earth through which to reveal His character and covenant to the world?  How do their struggles, that we read about in the history in the Bible, reveal God to everyone else?                   

How do the diverse genres of poetry (like Psalms), letters (like Paul’s letters to the Romans), the law texts (Leviticus) and wisdom writings (like Proverbs) work together with the story line of the entire Bible?  Why not just tell it all in historical form (43%) of the Bible? How do the different genres contribute to The Big Picture?

Where does the Church (big C) today fit into the Bible? Acts tells us of the beginning of  the Church – made up of followers of Christ and His new covenant, but are we the same as they are? How? What is different today?

Do you think this epic story continues on in the lives of Christian believers today?

Then she walked us through her steps to memorizing Scripture and how she digs into the words, thinks it through, reflects on it and then builds verse by verse until she has memorzied chapters of Scripture!

Chapter Four – ESTHER: To begin, we will set the stage. Turn to Esther 1:1-4. King Ahasuerus, also known as __________________, is the king of ___________.
