Abraham was Lot's uncle and foster father after Lot's dad passed away. Lot and Abraham were at the point of conflict over possessions including landed property and Abraham rejected any type of confrontation by allowing Lot to determine what he wanted. Lot took the most fertile land and both of them were separated. The seeming prosperity of Lot put him in the hands of captors but Abraham put his life on the line to fight and rescue Lot.
Saul wanted David's life at all cost for no justifiable reason, but the Lord protected David. David had chances to revenge and kill Saul but he wouldn't touch the anointed of the Lord.
