Welcome to our podcast about joint attention. It isn’t a term that you hear regularly, but really it should be. It develops before a child begins to speak. With the assistance of very sophisticated equipment we know that babies begin to lay down the first neural pathways for social interaction as early as 4 months old. This early development of joint attention represents a new stage in the interaction. It’s one of the earliest forms of communicating between parent and child.
