Scripture: Jonah 2-4, In Chapter 3 the Word of the Lord comes a second time! "Arise, go to Nineveh". Jonah in a one sentence sermon says to the people, "In forty days Nineveh will be overthrown". -- and the "people of Nineveh believed God! 3:5 Jonah saw God's mercy as a great evil. Jonah wants to die because God is showing mercy. He made a tent to see what would become of the city. He wanted to see if he won his argument with God. God shows mercy to Jonah by not killing him. If God did kill Jonah now, Jonah would be in Hell. God's reaction to Jonah is one of the great teaching of this book!
