ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਕਉ ਦੀਨਾ ॥
Houmai Rog Maanukh Ko Dheenaa ||
The disease of pride has humbled the man.
ਕਾਮ ਰੋਗਿ ਮੈਗਲੁ ਬਸਿ ਲੀਨਾ ॥
Kaam Rog Maigal Bas Leenaa ||
The disease of lust overwhelms the elephants.
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਰੋਗਿ ਪਚਿ ਮੁਏ ਪਤੰਗਾ ॥
Dhrisatt Rog Pach Mueae Pathangaa ||
Through the disease of seeing, the moth is burnt to death.
ਨਾਦ ਰੋਗਿ ਖਪਿ ਗਏ ਕੁਰੰਗਾ ॥੧॥
Naadh Rog Khap Geae Kurangaa ||1||
Through the disease of bell's note, the deer is ruined.
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਸੋ ਸੋ ਰੋਗੀ ॥
Jo Jo Dheesai So So Rogee ||
All those, that are seen; they, they are disease-stricken.
ਰੋਗ ਰਹਿਤ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜੋਗੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
It is only my True Guru, united with God, who is free from the disease. Pause.
ਜਿਹਵਾ ਰੋਗਿ ਮੀਨੁ ਗ੍ਰਸਿਆਨੋ ॥
Through the malady of tongue the fish is caught.
ਬਾਸਨ ਰੋਗਿ ਭਵਰੁ ਬਿਨਸਾਨੋ ॥
Through the malady of nose, the black-bee is destroyed.
ਹੇਤ ਰੋਗ ਕਾ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
The whole world is entangled in the malady of secular love.
ਤ੍ਰਿਬਿਧਿ ਰੋਗ ਮਹਿ ਬਧੇ ਬਿਕਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
The sins are multiplied in the malady of the three qualities.
ਰੋਗੇ ਮਰਤਾ ਰੋਗੇ ਜਨਮੈ ॥
In disease, man dies and in disease he is born.
ਰੋਗੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਭਰਮੈ ॥
Through disease, he wanders in existences again and again.
ਰੋਗ ਬੰਧ ਰਹਨੁ ਰਤੀ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
Entangled in disease, he is not permitted to stay any where even for a moment.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਰੋਗੁ ਕਤਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੩॥
Without the True Guru, the disease is never eradicated.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਕੀਨੀ ਦਇਆ ॥
He, to whom the Transcendent Lord shows mercy,
ਬਾਹ ਪਕੜਿ ਰੋਗਹੁ ਕਢਿ ਲਇਆ ॥
holding him by the arm, He pulls him out of the disease.
ਤੂਟੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
The fetters of him, who obtains the saints' A society, are snapped.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਰੋਗੁ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੭॥੨੦॥
Says Nanak, the Guru rids him of the disease.
