Death and tragedy are a part of life. That's true for the believer and unbeliever. The difference is that we as believers have hope.  God doesn't promise us that we'll never lose anyone or anything.  He promises us that we'll never be alone. God doesn't promise us that we'll never lose anyone or anything.  He promises us that we'll never be alone. As Psalm 34:18 says "The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

There are certain rules of and principles of general application that we should all follow.  But sometimes, God convicts us of some things for which He doesn't seem to convict other people.  Some people think they should do nothing but pray on the Sabbath.  Others like to relax and watch football.  Some couples spend every moment of their lives together.  Others spend time apart here and there.  Don't focus on them, focus on yourself, and how God is guiding you.  This is nothing new.  In Romans, the Apostle Paul tells believers not to worry about whether it's right for other believers to eat meat or not, nor whether one day of the week should be considered holier than others, saying "One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God." So don't get hung up on things like this. Just focus on what God wants for and requires of you.

The world's economy might look grim, but we don't participate in the world's economy, we participate in God's economy. The world concerns itself with supply and demand. But God's supply is endless. He is an exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can ask or imagine God, who gives us rivers in the desert, and who wants to prosper us in all things, even as our soul prospers.
