Jesus didn't say believe in me and you'll be saved. He said love God with all your heart, soul, and mind — and love your neighbor as yourself. That's the most important commandment.
I've found my bible from high school a few months ago — worn, torn, and I even hiked through the mountains of Peru with it. I finally opened it and started reading. I’ve had resistance to reading the bible for many reasons, until now. I’m finally able to see and feel the truth for myself.
In this episode:
* Why I consciously turned my back on God when I left high school — and what’s calling me back to this book now
* The word “fear,” as in “fear God,” translated back to Aramaic: five or six possible meanings, including awe and reverence. What I felt on a mountain in Peru is exactly one of them.
* Three passages from Jesus himself — none of which say what most Christians are taught is the central belief of the faith
* The Gnostic Gospels: Gospel of Mary, Thomas, Philip — why are they outside the Bible, and who decided that?
A moment to listen for:
~25:00 - Mark 7:5–7, read aloud. "These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their teachings are but rules taught by men." If this doesn't land, I don't know what will.
→ If this is stirring something — a question, a pushback, a memory from your own church days — drop it in the comments. That's the dialogue I want.
“The kingdom of God is within you.”
— Jesus (Luke 17:21)
