The world is jacked up. Actually, the world has always been jacked up (since Genesis 3!). And that can be strangely comforting in a time like ours. We saw evidence of this in Daniel chapter 11, as Pastor Josh walked through a sweeping chapter of the Bible that demonstrates again the sovereign hand of God over both global events and the personal details of our lives.

Discouraged and overwhelmed? How do we rightly respond to the pain, suffering, and loss that we face in life? In Daniel chapter 10, Pastor Josh walks us through what the process of lamenting is and what it is not. We learn that it is the love of God, not details of the future, that will get us through the darkness.

Changing your circumstances doesn't change your reality.  Instead of packing up and making a run for it, let our first response in all of life, especially in difficult situations, be prayer.  In Daniel 9, we learn about the importance of our heart posture in prayer and the faithfulness of our God.

God is always at work, even when you can't see it, even in hardship and suffering. Daniel receives a vision of events that would occur hundreds of years later (recorded in our present-day history books) that displays both God's infiniteness and His power. Though Daniel is grieved and burdened with the revelation of things to come, he sees the assurance of God's ultimate sovereignty over all things, past and future. With this hope, he finds the courage to face the events of his day no matter how hopeless or evil.
