When speaking of the problem of evil and suffering we generally resort to various theodicies to try and understand.

Moving around/beyond that, we see a number of Tzaddikim whose response to their own suffering is a deepening of their learning and spiritual creativity - catalyzing their experience of evil into religious positivity.
