Joshua Chapter 10:14-43, Episode 217

Listen Later

In this episode from Joshua Chapter 10:14-43, we read the details on how the Israelites defeated 5 kings and their armies of the Southern kingdom in Canaan land. After the battle they returned to their home base of Gilgal. I believe this is significant because Gilgal could be seen as their starting point, their foundation. Here at Gilgal, before they could fight the battle of Jericho (the first city the Israelites would attack) there were somethings they had to do. 1. It was here they set up stones so they would never forget how God parted the Jordan River for them. 2. It was here they had to get circumcised and renew their covenant with God. 3. It was also here they celebrated the feast of Passover (deliverance from Egypt) and the feast of Unleavened bread (a reminder of how fast they left Egypt and how they need to get rid of any sin.) 4. Finally, it was here that the manna stopped and they began to eat off the land (time for something new). What Gilgal speaks to me for us is that we must remember that we are what we are and where we are because of God. Gilgal speaks to me that we must stay humble and never forget what God has done for us. #foryou #foryourpage #joshua #gilgal #promisedland #passover #canaan #gibeon #jordan #christian  @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
