In this episode we read about how the Gibeonites deceived the Israelites into making a treaty with them. Although a deceitful act, their desperation showed that they knew it was better to be on the side of Israel’s God. We also read about two miracles in Chapter 10. One miraculous event was when God sent large hail stones to kill Israel’s enemies. The second miracle was when Joshua prayed for the sun and moon to stand still to give him more daylight to defeat the enemy. How awesome that God heard Joshua’s prayer and made the sun stand still. The scriptures tell us that the ‘effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man (or woman) avails much’.
