The thief cometh not but for to steal and to kill and to destroy I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly

When Jesus saw their faith he said unto the sick of the palsy Son thy sins be forgiven thee

And he said also unto his disciples There was a certain rich man which had a steward and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods And he called him and said unto him How is it that I hear this of thee give an account of thy stewardship for thou mayest be no longer steward Then the steward said within himself What shall I do for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship I cannot dig to beg I am ashamed I am resolved what to do that when I am put out of the stewardship they may receive me into their houses So he called every one of his lord 039 s debtors unto him and said unto the first How much owest thou unto my lord And he said An hundred measures of oil And he said unto him Take thy bill and sit down quickly and write fifty Then said he to another And how much owest thou And he said An hundred measures of wheat And he said unto him Take thy bill and write fourscore And the lord commended the unjust steward because he had done wisely for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light And I say unto you Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness that when ye fail they may receive you into everlasting habitations He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon who will commit to your trust the true riches

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come they were all with one accord in one place And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind and it filled all the house where they were sitting And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire and it sat upon each of them

And it came to pass that as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God he stood by the lake of Gennesaret And saw two ships standing by the lake but the fishermen were gone out of them and were washing their nets And he entered into one of the ships which was Simon 039 s and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land And he sat down and taught the people out of the ship Now when he had left speaking he said unto Simon Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a draught And Simon answering said unto him Master we have toiled all the night and have taken nothing nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net And when they had this done they inclosed a great multitude of fishes and their net brake And they beckoned unto their partners which were in the other ship that they should come and help them And they came and filled both the ships so that they began to sink When Simon Peter saw it he fell down at Jesus 039 knees saying Depart from me for I am a sinful man O Lord For he was astonished and all that were with him at the draught of the fishes which they had taken And so was also James and John the sons of Zebedee which were partners with Simon And Jesus said unto Simon Fear not from henceforth thou shalt catch men And when they had brought their ships to land they forsook all and followed him

And God said Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years

And he said Thy name shall be called no more Jacob but Israel for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men and hast prevailed

Surely he hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows yet we did esteem him stricken smitten of God and afflicted But he was wounded for our transgressions he was bruised for our iniquities the chastisement of our peace was upon him and with his stripes we are healed

This people have I formed for myself they shall shew forth my praise

Behold I have received commandment to bless and he hath blessed and I cannot reverse it He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel the Lord his God is with him and the shout of a king is among them God brought them out of Egypt he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob neither is there any divination against Israel according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel What hath God wrought Behold the people shall rise up as a great lion and lift up himself as a young lion he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey and drink the blood of the slain
