"Who determines what makes it into the news, and why? When I was a TV reporter this was pretty much based on what we always covered—accidents, murders, scandals, and recurring events, almost with liturgical faithfulness. Mostly it was up to our news directors and producers (and consultants) to determine, presumptively, what they thought viewers cared about. But I still wonder, as I did then, why so much, seemingly more important matters, gets left out of the coverage? In this sermon I’ll explore a better paradigm for determining what the headlines should be."
