Today we are beginning not just a new teaching series for the next few weekends, but a daily message series for the next 28 days based on the Book of Acts. Jesus had a vision for His church and He communicated that vision to His closest followers. And that’s how the book of Acts starts. So we’re going to just jump right into the opening verses of this great adventure that we are starting today that we are calling Daily Acts. 

Today we wrap up a four-part series on what “Love is…”

No one can get rid of envy by trying really, really hard not to envy. That is never the way of spiritual transformation. Envy can only be gotten rid of as it is replaced with the power of love. When love is present, there's just not room for envy to grow.

The single purpose of your life is to become a thoroughly loving person rooted in the care of God through our friend Jesus--and the purpose of our church is to be a community of love. In this series, we are renewing our commitment to make love our number one thing in this New Year--to be what we are known for, what we talk the most about, and what we value above all.

Over and over the whole story of the Bible comes down to one word: love. Life is about love. Our church is about love. Our personal and corporate existence is about love. Spiritual maturity is measured by love. The gauge of a life well-lived is love. 

So, today as we start out this New Year, we are beginning a study on the most important topic in the world: Love!

Christmas Eve Under The Stars 2020

John Piper said: “I have called Christmas “the dawning of indestructible joy” because the joy Jesus was bringing into the world was like no other kind in history. Once we have it, it cannot be destroyed."

With all that’s happened this year due to COVID, joy may be the last thing you are feeling right now. Where is joy to be found in a world-wide pandemic? How can we have joy amidst layoffs and lockdowns? You may be wondering, “Is joy even possible this Christmas?” Luke answers that question for us: Joy is not found in the absence of problems. Joy is found in the presence of Jesus. That is the message of the manger. Joy has been born. Joy is here.  Joy is alive.  Joy is found in the person of Jesus.

As we come into the Christmas season this year, there is perhaps as much uncertainty and unrest as there ever has been since the very first Christmas. And yet into that dark and oppressive world, a joy was given birth unlike any the world has ever known. 

The joy that Jesus came to bring is from outside this world. It is the very joy that Jesus himself has in God the Father—which he has had from all eternity and will have forever. There is no greater joy than the joy that God has in God, because God is the greatest object of joy, and God has the greatest powers to enjoy.
