Are you waiting for something to change before you allow yourself to be happy?
This week on The Breakdown Podcast, Pastor John sat down with Pastor James to break down his message on choosing joy in the middle of an unresolved season, rooted in Philippians 4:4–7, Psalm 13:1–6, and Psalm 42:11. Their conversation explores why biblical joy isn't dependent on circumstances—and how we can choose to focus on who God is, thank Him even while we wait, bring our anxiety to Him in prayer, and receive His peace before anything around us changes.
If you're discouraged, anxious, or tired of waiting for life to get better, this conversation will remind you that your circumstances don't have to change for your joy to return. The Lord is near, and His peace is available right where you are.
Are you waiting for something to change before you allow yourself to be happy?
"I'll be happy when I get the promotion, the bills are paid, the relationship is restored, or this difficult season finally ends." But life keeps moving the finish line—and if your joy depends on your circumstances, it will always feel just out of reach.
In Philippians 4:4–7, Paul writes about rejoicing while sitting in a prison cell with no release date and no guarantee that his circumstances will improve. His words reveal that biblical joy isn't pretending everything is okay or forcing yourself to feel positive. Joy is a decision to focus on who God is, thank Him out loud, release your anxiety through prayer, and receive His peace before anything around you changes.
If you've become discouraged, anxious, cynical, or tired of waiting for life to get better, this message will help you choose joy in the middle of an unresolved season. Your circumstances may still be uncertain, but the Lord is near—and His peace can guard your heart while you wait.

Do you ever wonder if the work you do actually matters?
This week on The Breakdown Podcast, we sat down with Pastor James to break down the message on faith and work, rooted in 1 Thessalonians 4:1–12, Genesis 1:27–28, Genesis 2:15, and Colossians 3:23–24. We talk about why God cares about what happens Monday through Saturday, not just what happens on Sunday, and how ordinary work can become an expression of love, worship, and service.
Together, we unpack the biblical meaning of work, how to find purpose in your job, and why even the work that feels overlooked or unfulfilling matters to God.
If you feel burned out, overlooked, or unsure whether your work has a purpose, this conversation will help you see your Monday differently—and remember that your work matters when it's done for Jesus.
Do you ever wonder if the work you do actually matters?
Whether you're working in an office, raising children, teaching students, serving customers, building homes, or doing work no one seems to notice, it can be easy to feel like your job is simply something to endure. But God cares about more than what happens on Sunday—He is present in the work you do every day.
In 1 Thessalonians 4:1–12, Paul reveals that ordinary work can become an expression of love, an act of worship, and a way God brings healing to the world around us. Your work isn't only about earning a paycheck or pursuing a promotion. It's an opportunity to serve people, honor God, and become part of the solution wherever He has placed you.
If you feel overlooked, unfulfilled, burned out, or unsure whether your work has a purpose, this message will help you see your Monday differently. God has seen every faithful hour. Your work matters to Him, and none of it is wasted when it is done for Jesus.

Does God still speak—and how can you know when it's really Him?
This week on The Breakdown Podcast, Shana Hilton sits down with Pastor James to break down the message "Does God Still Speak?" rooted in 1 Samuel 3:1–21, John 10:27, 2 Timothy 3:16–17, and Hebrews 4:12.
Their conversation explores how Samuel learned to recognize God's voice and what it looks like for us to hear from God today. They discuss how Scripture helps us discern His voice, how to position our hearts to listen, and why obedience is an important part of following what God says.
If God has felt distant, prayer has seemed one-sided, or you're unsure what God is asking you to do, this conversation will encourage you to keep returning to His Word and learning to recognize His voice. God is not hiding from you—He still speaks.
Does God still speak—and how can you know when it's really Him?
In 1 Samuel 3, Samuel heard God calling his name but didn't recognize His voice. God didn't become frustrated or give up on him. He called again. Samuel's story reveals that hearing God isn't reserved for pastors or people who seem especially spiritual. God wants to speak to you personally, and you can learn to recognize His voice.
If God has felt distant, prayer has seemed one-sided, or you're struggling to know what He wants you to do, this message will help you understand how God speaks through Scripture, how to position your heart to listen, and why obedience keeps the conversation open.
God is not hiding from you. Keep returning to His Word, trust that He wants to speak, and be ready to answer what He says. Even when you miss His voice, He calls again.

Why do you still feel exhausted—even when you finally have time to slow down?
This week on The Breakdown Podcast, we sat down with Pastor James to break down the message on Sabbath and biblical rest, rooted in Deuteronomy 5:12–15, Genesis 2:2–3, Exodus 5:9, and Mark 2:23–28. We talk about why rest can feel so difficult, how fear and the pressure to always do more keep us exhausted, and why true rest is ultimately an act of trust in God.
Together, we unpack the biblical meaning of Sabbath, what it looks like to release what God is asking us to release, and how Jesus' declaration, "It is finished," changes the way we approach work, rest, and our worth.
If you're experiencing burnout, struggling to unplug, or constantly feeling like you haven't done enough, this conversation will help you discover how resting in God can restore what busyness has depleted.
Why do you still feel exhausted—even when you finally have time to slow down?
In Deuteronomy 5:12–15, God's command to observe the Sabbath reveals that true rest is about more than taking a day off. We struggle to rest because we're waiting for a finish line that doesn't exist, allowing fear to keep us working, and holding tightly to things God is asking us to release.
If you're experiencing burnout, struggling to unplug, or constantly feeling like you haven't done enough, this message will help you uncover what may really be keeping you exhausted. Discover the biblical meaning of Sabbath, why rest is an act of trust, and how resting in God can restore what busyness has depleted.
You don't have to finish everything, prove your worth, or hold your entire life together. You can open your hands and rest because God is good, God is in control, and Jesus has already declared, "It is finished."
