  • Journey #140 - The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson
Hill House, not sane, stood by itself against its hills, holding darkness within; it had stood so for eighty years and might stand for eighty more. To download, right-click here and then click Save Relevant Links: The Lottery by Shirley Jackson Shirley Jackson was a popular and controversial American author, who was born in December 14, 1916. She is best known for the short story The Lottery (1948).  She is also well known for the 1959 novel The Haunting of Hill House, which was adapted in the 1963 Robert Wise film The Haunting.  She has influenced such writers as Neil Gaiman, Stephen King, Nigel Kneale, and Richard Matheson. Jackson's husband, the literary critic Stanley Edgar Hyman, wrote that "she consistently refused to be interviewed, to explain or promote her work in any fashion...She believed that her books would speak for her clearly enough over the years." Rish and Marshal discuss the "new" Rogue One trailer. SPOILERS INCLUDED.  We also talk about Rebels and other tidbits. To download, right-click here and then click Save FACT Checker: Marshal says Emperor Palpatine has not been in Rebels series.  Actually, his voice was heard as a hologram to Darth Vader at the end of the Season 2 opener "The Siege of Lothal": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjigBxuXpwwMarshal mis-quotes the SW:TFA line "Tell that to Kanjiklub." as "Tell it to Kublai Kahn."  Kublai Kahn was a Mongol emperor, and also the grandson of Genghis Khan.  He has no connection to Star Wars (that we know of).The character of Saw Gerrera, played by Forest Whitaker in the movie, made his debut in season 5 of The Clone Wars, in the episodes “A War on Two Fronts,” “Front Runners,” “The Soft War,” and “Tipping Points.” To comment on this, journey on over to the Forums OR leave us a voicemail at 77-JINTO-107 (775-4686-107).

Rish Outfield is a fan of Horror films, Eighties music, and the television work of Joss Whedon. He enjoys chasing after frogs, talking about comic book characters, and thinking about the Star Wars Trilogy. He is a voice actor, audiobook narrator, and podcaster, and can be heard co-hosting the Dunesteef Audio Fiction Magazine and That Gets My Goat podcasts, where he and Big Anklevich entertainingly waste much of their time. He also features his own stories on the Rish Outcast podcast.  He has been a writer of short stories all of his life, but has only recently begun to share his work with others. He once got a job because of his Sean Connery impersonation, but has lost two due to his Samuel L. Jackson impression.
