Learning is one of the most important things you can do as a programmer. There is a process that everyone goes through when learning how to code, and in this episode, I share with you the techniques that have helped me learn new programming concepts.

Learning to code isn't easy, and you'll never know everything. This is why you MUST be a self-learner and continuously learn new things - the world moves too fast.

Here are a few ways in which I consume content and retain the knowledge of what I'm trying to learn  -

1.) Watch tutorials of people programming.

2.) Use your basic knowledge to begin building something.

3.) Google, Google, Google

4.) Engage with the community

5.) Just keep coding.

In this episode, I talk about why being intentional is important to life and you as a programmer. 

In order to build something, you have to know what you're actually going to build and stick to the plan. Of course, things will change in software development and you may have to add or subtract from the original plan. But, by being intentional you will be able to withstand the winds when they come and stay on course in your programming journey.

In this episode, I share with you the 5 phases someone will go through when learning how to code. From my own experiences, we go through the different mental and emotional stages that happen when learning to program. 

For starters, you begin to use your brain in a more logical way and you start to think in ways you wouldn't naturally do before learning to code. As your programming journey advances, you gain the mind of a programmer more and more and carry it in everyday life.

Learning to code is hard and takes time, so if you feel like you just "aren't made for it" - please get that shit out of your head. Anybody can learn how to code; you just have to be persistent and have an end goal. Keep pushing.

WWDC started today (June 3rd) and I leave my thoughts on what I thought were the coolest releases this far.

1.) Dark Mode. Of course, we finally get what we've all wanted.

2.) iPadOS. A somewhat more powerful iOS for iPad. The new home screen is cool and so is the ability to use it as a second monitor for your Mac.

3.) Reality Kit & Reality Composer. A new way to create AR components and integrate them into the real world. 

4.) Sign in With Apple. A new, more secure way to sign into all of your connected apps.

5.) SwiftUI. My favorite release this far. A new, declarative framework for building User Interfaces with Swift.
