One quality that immediately strikes the readers of the Gospel is the compassionate character of Jesus. (Luke 6:36-38).

Although it is “good to be here” (Luke 9:33), we cannot celebrate the feast of Tabernacles yet. (Second Sunday of Lent)

The scribes were experts in Jewish law and the Pharisees devoted themselves to the meticulous fulfillment of the law. It seems that you could not aim higher than them. (On Matthew 5:20-26).

God is presented as a loving Father who knows best what his children need and he is more than willing to provide for them. Matthew 7:7-12.

We are familiar with the story of Jonah, that rebellious prophet who didn’t want to go to the enemies of his people to preach the word of God to them. Luke 11:29-32.

Christian prayer should differ from a prayer of Gentiles because our God is unlike any other god. Matthew 6:7-15

The idea of judgment over the nations appears already in the Old Testament, and the criterion of that judgment is how these nations treated Israel. Matthew 25:31-46.
