You can know perfectly well that you are allowed to say no, disagree, make your own decisions and set boundaries — and still find yourself explaining, defending, bracing, complying or becoming furious when somebody pushes against them. Why? Sometimes the conscious mind has rejected an old authority structure long before the body has stopped expecting its consequences. In this episode of Journeys Beyond with Shamarie, I explore the human experience of embodied authority: why pushback does not necessarily mean we are free of the pattern, why irritation and anger can be valuable information, and why repeatedly thinking “I know better than this — why am I still doing it?” may be pointing us toward a better question. We’ll look at love, obedience, permission, defiance, ageing, boundaries and the difference between knowing you have authority over your own life and discovering that your body believes it too. Because perhaps freedom is not about getting everyone around us to behave differently. Perhaps it begins when their agreement is no longer required for us to remain ourselves. With steadiness and wonder, Shamarie
Episode Description
You can understand exactly why a pattern exists, genuinely want to change it—and still find yourself feeling, reacting or behaving in the same familiar way.
In this episode, I explore what can happen when conscious understanding is not enough, what you can bring to a Biosenetics session, and how I work with the bodily, emotional, mental and energetic material that is active beneath the visible problem.
You don’t need the right terminology, a diagnosis or an understanding of my different methods. You can begin with something as simple as:
“I’m not coping with this.”
“Why is this still happening?”
“I understand it, but my body still reacts.”
Biosenetics is an active, questioning and investigative process. Rather than deciding beforehand what your experience means, we ask questions, follow what presents and work with what appears ready for change, completion or integration.
This work is exploratory and does not replace appropriate medical or psychological care. I don’t promise a particular outcome—but clients have historically reported feeling lighter, clearer or better able to deal with what is happening.

What happens when you begin questioning not simply what you believe, but the beliefs that have quietly helped organise your entire life? In this episode of Journeys Beyond with Shamarie, I share something I am currently living through: a deep re-evaluation of beliefs around spirituality, purpose, responsibility, identity, safety and how life itself works. Some beliefs are consciously chosen. Others are inherited through family, religion and culture, or absorbed so deeply that we stop recognising them as beliefs at all. They become structural — part of the architecture from which we understand ourselves and the world. And when one of those beliefs begins to move, much more can move with it. I explore why inconsistencies within our beliefs can be so difficult to recognise, why we may assume we have failed to understand rather than questioning the framework itself, and why changing a structural belief can feel genuinely painful and disorientating. I also share a very personal realisation about my lifelong search for answers: beneath genuine curiosity may also have been a hope that if I could understand the rules of life, I could make life more predictable — and therefore safer. Perhaps knowledge was being asked to provide something it could never actually guarantee. This episode isn't about replacing one belief system with another. I don't have a shiny new collection of answers to offer. Instead, I'm exploring the possibility that we can ask: What have I built around what I believe? What does this belief ask me to pursue, tolerate or take responsibility for? Who does it tell me I am? And what happens if I discover that it no longer satisfies me? Sometimes the most truthful answer may simply be: I don't know. Perhaps UNKNOWN isn't a failure to find the answer. Perhaps sometimes it's room. Room to question. Room to choose. Room to change. Room to find our own way. 🎙️ Journeys Beyond with Shamarie Shamarie Flavel | Field Explorer & Mystic Interpreter of Living Patterns
## How Do We Know What We Know? What happens when you've been doing something for so long that you no longer consciously know **how** you know what you know? This episode grew from my recent blog, *The Hand Looks Simple Now: What 30+ Years Taught Me to Notice*, and from an unexpected experience I've had while working with AI: being repeatedly asked to explain the **how and why** behind work that has become deeply embodied over more than three decades. We explore the difference between knowledge and embodied knowing, intuition and pattern recognition, and why expertise may have less to do with having all the answers and more to do with recognising when the map no longer fits the territory. I also share how the process of reverse-engineering my own knowing led somewhere I hadn't expected — into articulating the deeper worldview beneath my work and, eventually, writing another book, ***The Way to Freedom and the Way Home***, which will be released soon. In this episode: * How knowledge becomes embodied through years of practice * Why my hands have become an interface for much of my work * What AI taught me by continually asking, “But why?” * The difference between useful structure and rigid prescription * Why experienced practitioners still need to say “I don't know” * What happens when a familiar map reaches the edge of its usefulness * How our own unexplained knowing can become an invitation to enquiry * The unexpected journey from explaining my work to writing *The Way to Freedom and the Way Home* Perhaps we don't always need to immediately explain what we know. Sometimes the first step is simply to notice what we're noticing. **Notice the pattern. Change what's possible.** ### Mentioned in this episode **Blog:** *The Hand Looks Simple Now: What 30+ Years Taught Me to Notice* **Coming soon:** *The Way to Freedom and the Way Home* ### Connect with Shamarie Explore my work, courses, readings and healing sessions at **Shamarie.com.au** Follow me on Facebook and Instagram: **@ShamarieFlavelEnergy** *Journeys Beyond with Shamarie* explores healing, consciousness, embodied wisdom and the wonderfully complicated experience of being human.
What happens when the healing has worked — but your sense of who you are hasn’t quite caught up? In this episode of Journeys Beyond with Shamarie, I explore something I’ve begun calling Emergent Integration: the quieter process that can unfold when life expands, old identities stop fitting, and the person you’ve been becoming begins asking to be acknowledged. Unlike directed healing, Emergent Integration doesn’t necessarily begin with a wound, problem or belief that needs changing. Sometimes nothing has gone wrong. Something new is simply taking shape. We explore the identities we have outgrown, the versions of ourselves we expected to become but never lived, and the surprising difficulty of recognising growth once it has become familiar. Perhaps integration is not about becoming someone new at all. Perhaps it is about allowing our identity to become large enough — and accurate enough — to include who we have already become. In this episode: What can happen after healing The difference between directed healing and Emergent Integration Why identity can lag behind genuine personal change Grieving identities and futures that were never lived Why we often minimise growth once it feels ordinary Learning to stay with uncertainty while something new emerges The wisdom of allowing seemingly contradictory truths to coexist Questions to sit with: Who have you quietly become that you haven’t yet fully acknowledged? What identity are you still carrying long after it stopped fitting? Is there an unlived version of you that still deserves compassion? And what if nothing has gone wrong? Healing creates the space. Integration teaches us how to live within it. Journeys Beyond with Shamarie — exploring the patterns, possibilities and deeper questions that shape the way we live.
What if healthy relationships aren't about keeping everything equal? In this episode of Journeys Beyond with Shamarie, we explore the idea of weighted interdependence and ask a question that quietly shapes our relationships, families and communities: Who set the pace? Drawing on nature, everyday life and personal experience, we explore why one person's needs can gradually become the centre of gravity for everyone else, how codependency and forced independence sit at opposite ends of the same spectrum, and why genuine interdependence is something far more fluid. Rather than asking whether everything is perfectly balanced, perhaps the better question is: Can the weight move? This episode invites you to reflect on emotional boundaries, caregiving, responsibility, healthy relationships and practical spirituality without blame or judgement. It offers a different way of thinking about care—one that allows people to support one another without disappearing into each other. This episode accompanies the blog: "What If I Was Never Broken?" Until next time, stay curious.
Resources Without Love Become Power explores the hidden relationship between receiving, money, love, and authority. Beginning with a simple but profound experience of healing in the body, Shamarie unpacks what she calls the *false ledger*—the invisible system that counts money and visible provision while overlooking emotional labour, caregiving, dignity, and the true cost of holding relationships together. This episode invites you to explore questions many of us carry unconsciously: * When did receiving become something that needed permission? * When did money stop being a resource and become an authority? * What is the difference between clean support and control? * How do we recognise love through behaviour rather than words? A thoughtful exploration of receiving, clean exchange, responsibility, and the courage to reclaim the open hand.
In this episode of *Journeys Beyond with Shamarie*, we explore a tender and powerful reframe: what if the body is not the enemy, not the obstacle, and not a faulty machine to be controlled — but the beloved? So often we speak about the body as though it has failed us. We push it, silence it, judge it, medicate it, discipline it, or try to spiritually rise above it. But the body has been here all along, carrying the stories, the stress, the grief, the survival patterns, the ancestral echoes, and the unspoken truths we may not have known how to face. This conversation invites you to soften toward the body and begin listening in a different way. Not as punishment. Not as pathology. Not as inconvenience. But as communication. We look at the body as an energetic, emotional, and physical being — one that may hold old hurts, protective adaptations, and survival wisdom that is ready to be met with compassion rather than force. This is an invitation to return to the body as a sacred companion. To acknowledge what it has carried. To stop treating its symptoms as betrayal. And to begin relating to the body as the beloved — worthy of care, respect, tenderness, and true listening.
**Sovereignty Has Shoes** Sovereignty is not magical invincibility. It is not pretending nothing can touch you, or that being spiritual means ignoring practical reality. In this episode, I explore sovereignty as embodied discernment — the kind that listens to the body, respects boundaries, locks the door, makes the appointment, rests when needed, and stays connected to self while life moves. True sovereignty has shoes. It walks with you through daily life.
For many sensitive people, people-pleasing did not begin as weakness. It began as survival. In this episode, Shamarie explores the difference between boundaries, protection, power-over, and embodied sovereignty. She speaks to the sensitive person who has spent a lifetime trying to build a stronger shield, manage other people’s energy, and carry responsibility for fields that were never theirs to hold. This conversation looks at the often-unspoken “white elephant in the room”: sensitive people are regularly taught how to survive invasive or overwhelming fields, while the person creating the impact is rarely asked to become more responsible for what they bring into the space. Rather than seeking a bigger shield, a bigger defence, or a bigger gun, this episode invites a deeper return to sovereignty — the right to remain yourself while life moves. A tender, grounded reflection on sensitivity, people-pleasing, energetic responsibility, consent, boundaries, and coming home to your own field.
