After a century in which Irish politics had been controlled by two  centre-right parties, this February's Irish general election saw a win  of Sinn Féin – a left-wing party with connections to the Irish  Republican Army, which was an anti-British paramilitary organisation  that fought in the so-called Troubles. In part one of this episode of  eurobabble, student of politics Jovana Rudic explains the sudden rise of  Sinn Féin and adds insights on Irish economy. In part two, Jovana tells  us how the Irish relate to Northern Ireland, what the matter with Americans celebrating St. Patrick's Day more than the Irish is, why  Cromwell's England brought Irishmen to Jamaica, and whether or not she  speaks the country's Celtic language.
