  • Episode 35: Entrepreneurship vs. 9-5
There are a lot of differences between owning a company, and working for one. There is no right or wrong way to go about your work life, and that's not what I'm trying to tell you in the episode. Some people are meant to be entrepreneurs, and many others are meant to be doctors, lawyers, accountants, sales people, retail managers, bankers, etc.
What I AM talking about in the video are some of the misconceptions about entrepreneurship and the comparing and contrasting of entrepreneurs versus full-time employees.
Hopefully this can give you a better grasp on the decisions you are making or have made and the opportunity to change them if you find it necessary.

  • Episode 34: Solve. Their. Problems.
There are a ton of people trying to be entrepreneurs now, and I'm not saying that's a bad thing. Lately I have started noticing one very simple difference that separates the good ones from the bad ones though.
That is the difference between the businesses that want your problems to be solved and the businesses that just straight up and down want your money. Believe it or not, it is sometimes better to turn down sales in order to sustain your business.
I've had the experiences where I canceled subscriptions, stopped buying products, what have you and the owners of the businesses would come after me for being a "quitter"
Rule #1: Don't call your customers quitters
Always show genuine interest in what their actual problem is and then help them find a solution to that problem. Whether that solution is provided by your business or not doesn't matter. It is all about trust at this point and making customers not trust you is the WORST thing you can do to a business.

  • Episode 33: Time is (Not) Money
Is time money? That's up for debate today.
This is a very common expression that I know you've heard before, but have you ever really thought about it? Why do people say that time is money?
I guess it is kind of assumed nowadays that when you work you get a paycheck and that paycheck reflects some amount of hourly or yearly amount that you are entitled to.
"Time is Money" could also be a way of saying that Time is a valuable and limited resource just like money is... but that doesn't necessarily work that way does it?
So listen in for more on this and some advice as to how to use your time and your money to live the best life you can.

  • Episode 32: Academic Inflation
Today, there are a whole bunch of people going to college. Way more than there used to be.
Is this a problem? I think it could be. What exactly happens to the VALUE of a college degree when everybody has one?
If you or anyone you know is or is about to be a college student, then this is a good podcast episode for you to listen to.
I'm going to discuss a few things related to whether or not a degree is still really worth it, as well as some pointers on how to pick a school, and other college related things.
Some of the points I bring up in the episode might come as a surprise to you or enlighten you in a way that you've never been enlightened.

  • Episode 30: Is it a Scam?
Everybody thinks everything is a scam. Honestly.
Unless it's Amazon, every online business has to just be trying to get your money, right? Well yeah... that's how a business works... including Amazon
Don't get me wrong now, there are scams out there. But instead of just assuming that everyone is trying to scam, learn to tell the difference between the scams and the not scams. Assuming everyone is scamming you is the easy way and we really need to stop trying to take the easy way with everything.

  • Episode 29: Online Business People
Here is my rant for the day.
A lot of people see these online businesses trying to provide them with value and immediately assume it's a scam because these BUSINESS people want you to pay for their services.
These are the same folks that will pay $5 for a coffee every morning or thousands of dollars for a laptop with an apple on the back of it.
The truth is... MOST online entrepreneurs are not out here trying to tell you that they know everything or that you need them. They are just trying to provide you with information and then it is up to you to be skeptical about it.
Actually, that is WHY they do it. They give away all of their so called "secrets" because they KNOW that most people won't act on what they are being told. So what do they have to lose?

  • Episode 28: The Magic Numbers
"How much do I need to invest to start my business?"
"How much time do I need to spend practicing to become the best?"
"How many people need to see me before I get discovered?"
These kinds of questions are happening all the time... and they don't have answers. I feel like somewhere inside each and every one of us, we know that the answers to these questions don't really exist, but we keep looking for them anyway. Something about us loves to have a solid, objective answer to everything in life. When it comes to being successful at what you do... there just aren't easy answers like that.
That's what I'm giving my two cents on today, so take a listen.

  • Episode 26: Working On The Holidays
    It's Black Friday Everyone!
Surprisingly, that's not what I talked about.
Of course, this means that Thanksgiving was yesterday and it was that time to see all of the posts on your phone saying that more businesses should close and let their employees take the holiday off.
Here's the short version... a massive amount of the workforce will get every holiday off, but as always we are just complaining for the select few. These select few probably don't even have much of a problem with it.
Listen to the episode to get the rest of the spiel.
