A discussion held with Judge James Crawford on 9 October 2015.

CULS was delighted to partner with Clifford Chance for the first speaker event of Michaelmas term. On the 9th of October, His Excellency Judge James Crawford spoke to the society. The format of the event was an interview followed by a Q & A.

James Crawford was elected a judge of the International Court of Justice for a full term of 9 years in November 2014 and took his seat on the court on the 6th February 2015. From 1992-2014 he was the Whewell Professor of International Law at the University of Cambridge. He is widely considered to be one of the foremost commentators on public international law in the world. This was the first time Judge Crawford addressed the society since taking up his role at the ICJ.
