While Judgement Days' first holiday episode is baking in the oven, I'm excited to share this conversation I had with singer/songwriter/filmmaker Matt Farley of Motern Media about the Motern Media Christmas Special from 2017.
After nearly 20 years of making under the radar regional horror-comedies in New England The Motern Media franchise is now beginning to be recognized outside of Manchester, New Hampshire for it's witty and bizarre series of movies. 'Freaky Farley,' 'Monsters, Marriage and Murder in Machvegas' and the seminal 'Don't Let The Riverbeast Get You' are labors of love made with an infectious sense of fun.

This week Holiday season is here and my friend Caroline and I talk about all those nostalgic feels. Be it the rose tinted nostalgia of older generations, the bizarre misfired nostalgia in a punk rock passion project, and an old melancholic stand-by. I get to talk to T2 with my friend who watched the film for the very first time this week. How does the film hold up sans a nostalgic glow?

This week, in observance of Noir-vember, I unpack Film Noir with my guest, Mike Caravella... or do we? Is it a film genre, an artistic movement, a motif? We try to wipe some of the dust off this old conversation, probably not very successfully BUT we do discuss some solid and not so solid examples. And, PLOT TWIST is Terminator 2 a Film Noir?
Oh and at some point we struggle to recall a movie about the IRA from the guy who made The Third Man and it's Odd Man Out by Carol Reed. Don't get annoyed when we can't remember things we're on a podcast to discuss, that's ageist of you.

This week has been some bullshit. If you need to relax here's a fun conversation between two friends about movies involving bicycles, riding bicycles, what makes us happy, whether we could beat up our respective fathers and finding actor Bill Allen (Cru Jones in Rad) on cameo. This week - COVID Halloween continues with a series of films that feel extremely Of The Moment and also there's a movie about Yugoslavia behind the Iron Curtain. What do they have in common? We're talking about living that bunker life and we are so fortunate to be accompanied by New York Public Libraries' Peter Jubinsky who makes a personal plea for his job security. Super exciting!

This week we celebrate the hair-raising, spine-tingling films about the spookiest, creepiest menace plaguing our cities and towns today: ISOLATION! No but seriously, though Content Warning for discussions about suicide, self-harm and despair. These are very lonely times we're all living through and I'd like to take an unguarded moment to say that I love you all for reading this. Take care.

What movie’s better than Terminator 2?
And why do we all agree this one movie is so good?
Wait, do we even all agree that it’s so good?
How committed are you to your comfort movies?
What are the movies that deeply touch you?
And have you seen anything good lately?
Each episode a different guest discusses a series of movies with a theme or a topic they’re passionate about.
Then we ask them: “are these movies better than T2?”
It’s a stupid premise for a podcast
but it’s stupid on purpose.
