Christian Gattiker, Head Research and Investment Solutions, tells Amanda Kayne that Julius Baer always held a cautious view on reflation in the Eurozone. However, the drop in headline inflation to 1.5% was stronger than expected and seems to underpin the stickiness of low inflation in the Eurozone. As this year's party congress in China is a leadership transition event, the Chinese government will favour economic stability over reforms. As a result, cyclical sectors are at an advantage, with broad-based indicators such as the China leading index and OECD China leading indicator pointing to economic expansion, following several years of decline.
