In this episode of Serving Jesus Christ, Pastor Swanson shares an inspirational Sunday Message titled,
Going Our Own Way
One of man’s goals. . . if not his primary goal. . . is to live independently of God.
We see this all around us in this current age. People desire to be autonomous and everything they engage in is fueled by this urge. As a result of this behavior, almost everything humans do is directed towards their own self-interest.
However, we were created as dependent beings. . . beings designed to be governed by God.
Men want to be in charge. . . to call their own shots. And the truth be told. . .God has given us a lot of freedom. But freedom is not the same thing as autonomy. Yet we’re all tempted to think we can be in control of our lives.
We fool ourselves into thinking we are operating independently of God.
Instead of worshiping God and filling the earth, the people following the flood have a vision for a city that will provide them with a reputation. . . a city constructed for their glory. . . a city where their glory will entirely eliminate their need for God.
