In this episode of Serving Jesus Christ, Pastor Swanson shares an inspirational Sunday Message titled,

Keeping Eternity In View!

For most of Christian history, Christians clearly understood that their lives were divided between this world and the world yet to come. . . just between these two worlds.

In order to cope with this world they lived each day with eternity in view.

They understood that this life was often one of sorrow and was very short. They understood that true happiness and joy would not truly be theirs until eternity. The life yet to come is what kept them trudging along in this life.

Today, many Christians have fallen into the trap of believing this world is where we are rewarded with such things as happiness, satisfaction, fulfillment, and prosperity.

This does not mean that God doesn’t bless us with such things at times. But, if we fall into the trap of believing that this life is our only chance at happiness and joy we will live with a good measure of disappointment and despair.

Instead of a strictly horizontal view of life, we must include the vertical. In fact, we must make it our primary view!
