Welcome to another episode of the EBC’s Prayer Podcast. As mentioned earlier, our prayers throughout the year will be taken from the 66 books of the Bible. We began in the book of Genesis and will conclude in the book of Revelation.

Today, we are diving into the book of Jonah. Our scripture will be taken from Jonah 2:1-2, which reads: “Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish's belly, and said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heard my voice.”

In that critical moment, while engulfed in darkness within the belly of the great fish, Jonah fervently prayed to the Lord, his God. From the depths of his affliction, he cried out, expressing his deep anguish and desperation. He recalled how he had turned to the Lord in his time of need, and in response, God had not only heard his plea but had also listened to his voice rising from the depths of despair. Jonah felt as though he was in the very grasp of hell itself, yet even from such dire circumstances, he found hope in the assurance that the Lord was attentive to his cries.

Today, the Lord is encouraging us to pray. We need to cry unto him because of our affliction, for he will hear our cry.
