This week Derick met with Jeff Chilton, a New York native who fronts Jay Si Proof, a Portland based collective of modern jazz and hip hop performers currently working on an original album. This week Derick met with Jeffery Wolfe, a California native who came to talk stocks, money management, and life philosophy. This week Derick met with Patrick Golichnik, who is a bassist for the local bands NaMu, Bad Lengua, and Dusty The Gorilla. They discuss the false narratives that have been propagated by local and national news outlets surrounding Portland's neo-soul band Adebisi (45:44), how to find a creative muse while in a monotonous environment (15:45), meeting his Bad Lengua band-mates freshman year of college (28:54), and the cultural differences between Portland and Patrick's hometown of Neenah, Wisconsin (54:45), Hidden Trax of the Week, and lastly, they ponder if a technological revolt will come in the near future (1:06:00).

This week Derick met with Cory Limuaco, a freelance drummer and member of Portland jazz-bands Håfa and greaterkind. They discuss the creation of Håfa and the value that blending cultures has on music, his experience touring in Europe, the nature of being an introverted-extrovert in the entertainment industry, and some insight on how to approach a musician after their set before talking Confluence – an event curated by Cory to allow creatives to network and exchange ideas, Hidden Trax of the Week, and lastly, his experience with the notion of "celebrity" after playing with talents such as Aminé, Sammy Figueroa, Jarrod Lawson, and more.

This week Derick met with Noah Puggarana, an independent filmmaker and member of Psychedelic R&B band Maxwell Cabana. They discuss the gentrification of the Alberta Arts District, the rising costs of secondary education and the benefits of community colleges, getting great quality out of outdated camera equipment, and Maxwell Cabana's 2019 project Tone Baby, before talking the decriminalization of psychedelic mushrooms in Oakland, CA, Hidden Trax of the Week, and lastly, the intricacies of mixing and mastering music.

This week Derick met with Max91 who is a MC/creative and a Los Angeles, California native. They discuss the power of a DM and the opportunities that arise by reaching out, giving out knowledge and information for free, code-switching when moving to a new area with different social norms, and featuring Portland artists on his debut album MOON'STRUNG (2018) before talking how to "take it on the chin" and keep it pushing when faced with adversity or failure, the love/hate relationship with social-media as a business tool and as a creative workspace, Hidden Trax of the Week, graffiti culture in LA, and lastly, story-telling and the intricacy of planning/directing a music video.

This week Derick met with Smyth who is a producer/MC and a Portland native. They discuss what constitutes a "throwaway" track, distinguishing between a beat-tape and instrumental album, the stigma that comes with being a basketball-rapper or a producer-rapper, and surpassing self-doubt before discussing Damian Lillard's buzzer-beater heard around the world, how to dig for samples in 2019 (part 2), the convoluting nature of genre, Hidden Trax of the Week, and lastly, how your family environment impacts your creativity.

This week Derick met with Samuel Eisen-Meyers, leader of the band Samuel Eisen-Meyers & The Joyful Noise. They discuss stressors that come with creation, the importance of collaboration without expectation, learning how to normalize the notion of celebrity, and the art of listening before discussing the life-long attempt at learning how to not want to impress others, nurturing personal relationships, being white-belt minded, Hidden Trax of the Week, and lastly, living life without excess.

This week Derick met with Sammy, who is a Portland native and a music artist. Sammy is dropping an upcoming project this summer titled, Not For Nothing. They discuss the cultural divides that exist in Portland, learning how to make music on non-professional equipment in the mid-2000s/early 2010s, Rest in Power to California's own Nipsey Hussle, and the ability for music to resonate with people at a deeper level than solely auditory perception before hashing over how extraordinary words are beginning to lose their original meaning, the value and importance of community leaders, the contrast between Portland and New York, individuality vs. team-building, grasping inspiration, and lastly, learning a trade as a means to contribute to your community.

This week Derick met with David Barber, who is an MC and Oregon native. David plays in the spontaneous, hip-hop, dirt music group, Dusty The Gorilla. They discuss the platforms available for musicians to showcase their talent in Portland, some of the characteristics that venues look for when booking artists, how much of an impact alcohol/other substances have on crowd performance, and the difficulty of writing music vs freestyling and vice versa before discussing the meaning of the "soul," hash over the debate of humans having "free will," and lastly, how much money is enough money to be content.
