This week, I had to put my 12-year-old dog down. The grief in this episode is specific to losing a pet. It’s therapeutic for me to share everything that I learned about grief in the last few weeks:

• How grief brought my husband and I closer
• How grief feels like mental gymnastics
• Navigating tough conversations: when is the right time to put a dog down?
• Coping mechanisms and how I managed my grief
• Trying to turn my grief into gratitude 

The biggest lesson was that I had to learn how to manage my grief because I still had to be a mom. Even though my world felt paused, life still moves around me and I have to show up.
