Cicadas and their buzzing noise can be heard everywhere in Japan now. It is the season for bug catching / hunting, but why is this such a popular activity in Japan? In the summer, Japanese kids would go into the woods to hunt primarily for beetles but also various bugs. It is considered to be a typical summer activity for kids or families in Japan. Although the real reasons and origin of this popular activity is debatable, we will briefly talk about what bug hunting is in Japan.

When we hear "British food", we normally relate it to being disgusting. Is it really true that UK has no good food to offer?! Cliff is determined to persuade us that UK in fact has many delicious options for food. This episode will try to clear up some misunderstanding on British food and cuisine, while perhaps giving you an insight on what food to go for when you're in the UK. Fish & Chips isn't the only option!

Understandably, Japanese styled restaurants owned and managed by non Japanese in the UK may not seem authentic enough, but how about Japanese branded franchise in the UK?

Marugame Udon is a famous Japanese franchise, and recently they've opened a branch in London. We saw this as an opportunity to take a look at what they have to offer. In this episode, Marugame Udon aside, we also tried to review the menus from other Japanese franchise such as Ippudo Ramen, and Coco Ichiban Curry. Are these Japanese brands staying true to their roots? Or did they overly adapt to the British market?

Japanese cuisine is getting more and more popular in the UK, but are the "Japanese" restaurants there really Japanese? In this episode, we will be reviewing the menu from a well known Japanese styled restaurant franchise - "Wagamama". To British people, Wagamama is where they would go to get Japanese food. With over 150 stores globally, how authentic is it really? How would a food enthusiast and a Japanese guy react to Wagamama's menu?
