After 15 years of being single, Jodes has finally decided to dip her toe back into the dating pool… and, honestly, the water is fucking weird.
In this episode of Just Jodes, I’m talking about getting back into dating after a VERY long break — from the highs and lows of Hinge to endless chats that never actually turn into dates, rejection, and the terrifying prospect of meeting a complete stranger and hoping they like you.
I also share the story of my first date in 15 years — including the slightly unexpected outcome and why, despite it not leading to a second date, I actually consider it a huge success.
Because sometimes the biggest win isn’t finding your person. Sometimes it’s simply breaking the seal and proving to yourself that you can do the thing you’ve been scared to do.
We’ll chat about rejection, comparison, feeling “behind” in life, waiting until you’re ready, and why confidence often comes after you take the leap rather than before it.
So whether you’re single, newly dating, getting back out there after a long break, or just putting off something because you’re waiting to feel ready…
This one’s for you. 💛
And if nothing else, you’ll get to hear Jodes discover that apparently having great banter and planning a pub quiz date does not necessarily mean you’ve won Hinge. 😂

In this episode, we’re diving into a topic that seems to pop up even more often than Christmas chocolates: choosing not to have children — and why that choice is every bit as valid as choosing to have them.
I’m sharing my own reasons for being happily child-free, from the practical to the personal to the “no, Karen, I’m genuinely fine, I promise.” We’ll talk about the pressure millennials face, the assumptions people make, and how exhausting it is to constantly defend a life choice that hurts no one.
I also get into why friends, family, and well-meaning relatives need to mind their business — especially during family gatherings where the questions come thick and fast — and how respecting someone’s choice is the bare minimum of loving them.
Whether you’re child-free by choice, child-free for now, or simply trying to understand someone who is, this episode is all about honesty, autonomy, and giving people the space to design a life that actually fits them.
It’s real, it’s a bit ranty (in a cute way), and it’s a reminder that boundaries are a gift — and not just at Christmas.

Sometimes the hardest kind of self-love is walking away — even from people you genuinely care about. In this first episode of Just Jodes, we’re diving into the messy world of toxic friendships, draining family dynamics, and those relationships that leave you feeling like you’ve run an emotional marathon you never signed up for.
We’ll chat about the red flags we ignore (because same), why “but they’re family” isn’t a free pass for bad behaviour, and how to set boundaries that actually protect your peace — without drowning in guilt afterwards.
This one’s for the people pleasers, the over-givers, the “maybe it’s me?” thinkers, and anyone who’s realised that loving someone doesn’t mean you have to keep them in your life forever.
It’s honest, comforting, slightly unhinged (in a fun way), and the perfect way to kick off this new era of the podcast 💛

Episode Transcript:
Hello, Hello and welcome back to the lonely Londoner. I'm your host, Jodie Coulson. So in season one, we covered topics such as surviving life rather than thriving, different forms of education and making lemonade when life just keeps giving you lemons. But all of that was just the start. In season two, we're diving even deeper, challenging beauty standards and navigating the complexities of relationships both romantic and platonic. Delving into the power of therapy and the importance of choosing the life you truly want. As always, through the lens of my own personal experiences. Plus, in addition to all of that, this season I'm adding something new: mini episodes focusing on a topic close to my heart - Finances, because let's be honest, financial literacy is something many of us didn't learn enough about in school, and it's something I still struggle with. And if you do too, then we're going to try and go on this journey together and figure it all out. So join me as we not only explore the many experiences of life, but also learn practical tips and tricks to navigate the world of money. Together we’ll empower ourselves to make informed decisions, build a secure future, and live life to the absolute fullest. So gird your loins people. Season two is coming and I cannot wait to see you there.

Hi Everyone and welcome to episode 5.
This has been quite a difficult week for me, my housemate who I moved in with 4 months ago has decided that she doesn't want to live with someone anymore. (It's her flat).
This means that by the end of November if I haven't found somewhere to move to - I will be homeless AGAIN!
BUT I've decided to be grateful for this new spanner in the works, this new Lemon to add to all the other lemons that life has given me.
In fact, I'm going to perfect the world's best lemonade and get through this like a champ!

Hello, and welcome to The Lonely Londoner - A podcast which is basically just my stream of consciousness, whenever I feel like recording it.
In this episode, I talk about implementing small changes in my life, which have made a big impact.
I talk about the concept that "Anything worth doing, is worth doing poorly" (clearly something I implement when it comes to my upload schedule)
The example I'm using in this episode is about myself, my health, and my weight, If this topic is sensitive to you, then perhaps proceed with caution.
I decided to record this one at midnight when it's about a million degrees out, so just know that whilst I was recording this I had to turn my fan off (you're welcome) but I was also using a wet towel to try and stay cool - not relevant to the episode - just keeping it real.

When I moved to London to do my apprenticeship, I didn't anticipate how difficult it would be to find somewhere to live.
Join me on the journey to finding the perfect pad.

In this episode, I am talking all things Education and finding your own path to your career ( or lack thereof if you so wish!)
I talk through my own experiences with different forms of education, feeling like I was wasting my time, spending a LOT of money on University, and where I am now.
Reminder: Life is a journey we all take at our own pace, and we don't need to live up to someone else's experiences!!
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the episode or your experiences, if you'd like to reach out you can do so here:

Hey, I’m Jodes — and this is Just Jodes, your bi-weekly reminder that nobody’s got it all figured out (but we’re thriving anyway).
After starting The Lonely Londoner in…
We’ll talk about the highs and lows of being human — confidence, career chaos, friendships, and the occasional money moment (because adulthood, right?).
Expect laughter, honesty, and the kind of pep talks that feel like catching up with your best mate.
Real talk. Good Vibes. Just Jodes
