Gotta go back and read this series from the beginning
This is the first book of Ms McAdoo I've read. It won't be the last. It's well-written, with rich characters and a lot of history, both historical and familial, that I want to catch up on. The main center of this book focuses on the daughter of an Indian warrior and a young Texan. When her first love and her mother both turn their backs on her with hurtful words, she runs away. This is the story of her return to GOD and her family. It's interspersed with bits of the Civil.War and hard living, but it comes together well. Thanks for a good read, MsMcAdoo!
A Beautiful, Sweeping Story
Dynamic characters with very real flaws, a turbulent Civil War-era backdrop, and a poignant narrative of faith and true love all make Just Kin an inspiring read.
Heartbroken by rejection and unrequited love, Lacey Rose flees her family home in Texas and sets out on a wild series of adventures all across the country. Meanwhile Charley, the man she loves, faces his own struggles with war, conscience, and the workings of his own heart.
This story captures the frailty and fallibility of the human heart very well and shows how Godâs grace brings deliverance and healing. I definitely recommend it.

How can two people who lived their whole lives together practically as brother and sister - overcome a deeper sense of love? Lacey and Charley have a lot of obstacles to overcome before they realize what God truly has for them.
Caryl doesn't disappoint with book six. Each book of this series keeps getting better and better! Looking forward to reading the next book!
Journey of Discovery and Love
Some of the dialog was difficult to comprehend but once I got into the story, I understood it better. There certainly is plenty of meat to chew on and although another reviewer commented about not enough to the hero and heroines love, I feel it was very true to life for that difficult time.
Both Lacey and Charley being brought up in a close-net family were naive about life, so they made many mistakes. They also adjusted well to their problematic circumstances of the time.
Good story line
It was a picture of the sin we are capable of when we run from right to the things of the world. Sin was depicted without going into sordid detail. Yet it is not a pretty picture the results with the guilt it produces plus the results n the lives of those who partake. Drinking was too previlent to my liking but again it showed how drink broke down inhibitions. Sin has awful results.
