We did a shorter episode as a hot take on the Chad Wheeler incident. For those not aware, Chad Wheeler was a former Seattle Seahawks player who was recently released from the team following charges of domestic violence against this girlfriend. It has been reported that he suffered from bipolar, was in a manic state, and off his medications.  We bring our mental health expert, PMHNP Eric, on the show to discuss the bipolar aspect of this incident.  We discussed the stats of violent incidents in those with bipolar and those without bipolar.  We also engage in a discussion of CTE and stress the importance of taking medicine if diagnosed with bipolar.  Sadly, we also examine the stigma that this incident could further create given the focus on his bipolar rather than the alleged crime. 

This is the audio from our FB Live on 1/23/2020 when we discussed some Moral Dilemmas.  With FB Live we were also able to poll the audience and get there answers to the questions as well. 

As healthcare workers, we are tasked with ethical and moral decisions daily and this was a more fun way to discuss that. 

In our Story You May Have Missed, we discuss a health department staff that is refusing to administer COVID-19 vaccines. 

In this episode, we welcome Brent Lacey, MD to the show.  Brent is a gastroenterologist and well versed in financial planning both professionally and personally.  While we will have him back to discuss those, the purpose of this episode is discussion of his article written about a year ago on KevinMD, "Stop the war on PAs and NPs".

We discuss stopping the name calling and war-like tactics and working together to find common ground with the ultimate goal to be caring for patients.

We hope for the best for Christina and will update on her condition.

In this installment of JSP, Tom and Ben look at student loan reimbursement options through HRSA.... or at least attempt too.  This show does go off the rails at times but the information is still good.  There are two programs through HRSA and those are the National Health Service Corps and Nurse Corps as those are discussed.
